Margaret Shouse (she/her)

Are you struggling to keep your racing thoughts from taking over? Is there a feeling of hopelessness you cannot shake? What you may not know, is that YOU are not the problem.

Margaret Shouse is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and specializes in helping clients design a world that allows them to thrive. A vast majority of struggles encountered in today’s world stem from an innate feeling of being outside-the-norm or simply incapable of functioning within it. With that belief comes an immense amount of shame and guilt, and it is Margaret’s goal to not only build a safe space for her clients to be truly heard without judgement, but to help them rethink what they know about “normal.”

Having worked at a crisis hotline and in drug rehabilitation, Margaret discovered her passion for working with adolescents and clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use/addiction. At Effective Artistry, we recognize that these experiences are often coupled with ADHD and life on the autism spectrum, and we have a unique and highly successful system for working with these forms of neurodiversity.

Margaret practices a person-centered approach, in which genuine connection, trust and care between the therapist and client is critical to client growth.  The therapeutic relationship is a collaboration in which Margaret gets to help YOU reach your goals and discover your own coping skills, while being your advocate and looking out for your general well-being.

Margaret wants to help you stop trying to fit into this world and start imagining the world that best suits YOU. She wants to see you thrive.
